AWS Study And Access Partnership: Workers From Four Generations Ready To Adopt AI Skills

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Access Partnership, an independent consulting firm in technology, shared the results of studies on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on industry.

Presented by the Director of Access Partnership, Abhineet Kaul, the study showed that 99 percent of the 1,600 workers in Indonesia estimated that their workplace would use an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solution or tool.

Meanwhile, 98 percent of the 500 companies or organizations believe that the Information Technology (IT) department will benefit from AI. They also hope that this technology can be applied in research and development departments, finance, human resources, and others.

"98 percent of companies say they will start from the IT department, but that's not all you see from the potential AI transformation. That's what the company evaluates in various business operations, sales and marketing, finance, law, human resources across lines," Abhineet explained at the Media Briefing event.

Another finding presented by Abhineet is the use of AI to increase career opportunities. The study shows that entrepreneurs are willing to pay 36 percent higher if prospective workers have AI skills.

In line with the expectations of some entrepreneurs, 98 percent of workers want to have AI skills to improve work efficiency, intellectual development, and career progress which is much faster than before.

Interestingly, this desire comes from various generations. Interest in developing AI knowledge is owned by 97 percent generation Z (Gen Z), 98 percent millennial generation, 93 percent generation X (Gen X), and 75 percent baby boomers.

Abhineet said that this AI development did not only occur in Indonesia, but also in the Asia Pacific region. Therefore, it is important for entrepreneurs and the government to foster workers to understand the solutions and tools of AI technology.

"(AI wave) is changing the way the business operates and the way we work. Our research shows that society as a whole will benefit from increased productivity, which will have an impact on increasing salaries for skilled workers," Abhineet said.

Meanwhile, Head of Training and Certification ASEAN AWS Emmanuel Pillai revealed that AI, especially AI is generative, offers high opportunities for business transformation. Therefore, creating human resources that understand the use of AI is an added value for companies and countries.

"This shows that AI skills are very important for future workers. From financial services to construction and retail, various industries adopt AI quickly. That is why AI-enhanced workforce is very important to create an innovation culture," said Emmanuel.

In line with training needs, AWS launched the AI Ready initiative in November last year. Through this initiative, AWS is committed to providing free cover training to 29 million global individuals by 2025.

With the launch of AI Ready, AWS offers a series of free AI and AI-generative training courses adapted to technical and non-technical roles. Therefore, all workers can develop their skills.
