Taiwan Tourism Strengthens Relations With Indonesia In This Way

JAKARTA - After successfully inaugurating the 'Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Jakarta' and holding an event at the ASTINDO Travel Fair on February 29 - March 3, 2024, Taiwan Tourism Administration held a Taiwan Tourism Workshop event as a form of Taiwan's promotion at the Pullman Jakarta Central Park Hotel, inviting more than a hundred Indonesian local tourism industry players.

In the Taiwan Tourism Workshop, appearing as speakers and giving remarks; Abe Chou Director of Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Jakarta, Pauline Suharno as President of ASTINDO and John C Chen Representative of Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia. The event was also attended by representatives from TAITRA, Manager of Taiwan Trade Center Jakarta Tiffany Wang, General Manager of China Airlines Branch Henry Wu, General Manager of EVA Air Indonesia Branch Makmun Hamsa, CEO of MyTaiwanTour Travel Service Wu Chao-Huei, General Manager of Donglah International Travel Service Yu, Shih-Chi and President Director of Daily Travel Service Chen, Jar-Der.

At the B2B Workshop event, Muslim experts from the Chinese Muslim Association were also present to introduce Taiwan's newest Muslim tourism resources, with the hope that through their explanation, they could encourage closer cooperation between the tourism industry of Taiwan and Indonesia, and of course increase the number of tourists visiting Taiwan.

Taiwan is very serious in the tourism sector, the post-pandemic tourism recovery has reached almost 88 percent. In 2023, as many as 201,980 Indonesian tourists visited Taiwan, this number almost surpassed the number of Indonesian tourists in 2019.

And by 2024, Taiwan targets to bring in 250,000 visiting tourists.

Taiwan has 3 very supportive factors to visit. The first is that Taiwan has a lot of beautiful tourist attractions, the second is that Taiwan is promoting Muslim Friendly tourism by placing Musholla in public places such as the National Park, Stations and food and drinks that are halal and the third factor is that Taiwan is known for its excellent medical technology. So with these three factors, tourists who go to Taiwan will certainly increase this year," said John C. Chen, in his statement, quoted Wednesday, March 6.

Taiwan's long-term vision of tourism is very clear. Taiwan wants to continue to increase the number of Indonesian tourists who come to Taiwan.

"We will always prioritize themed tourist attractions in Alishan, Jiufen and other thematic objects by providing good and comfortable access to train lines. And of course, we will continue to develop halal culinary delights to attract prospective Muslim tourists in Indonesia," said Abe Chou.

Taiwan is also very active in helping local tourism business actors in Indonesia by participating in exhibitions such as Astindo 2024 and holding the 2024 Tourism Workshop.

"Taiwan Tourism Information Center in Jakarta was established with the aim of introducing and promoting Taiwan tourism to the people of Indonesia. By providing information and building close relations with tourism business actors in Indonesia, it is hoped that it can continue to increase the number of Indonesian tourists who go to Taiwan while on vacation," Abe Chou explained.

Meanwhile, some of the tenants who appeared in this event were Viror Kobo, a well-known Pineapple Cake producer from Taiwan. And several well-known travel services from Taiwan such as Fashion Tour Travel Service, Lion Travel Service, Daily Travel Service Co., Ltd, Edison Travel Service, Dongzel International Travel Service Co., Ltd, MyTaiwanTour Travel Service, Tourone Travel, Kuching Travel Service and Ezfly International Travel Agent.

This group of Taiwanese tourism companies will continue their promotional activities in the city of Medan on Wednesday.
