The Deputy Minister Of Communication And Information Emphasized Inter-Government Cooperation To Fight False Information

JAKARTA - The spread of false information is still being found in digital media. For this reason, Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said the importance of cooperation in dealing with this.

According to Nezar, increasing the strategic communication capacity of the government has an important role in stopping the spread of false information. In fact, it will have a big impact if it is supported by cooperation between governments.

In terms of increasing the capacity of government institutions, according to Nezar, the government can hold discussions, training, and workshops.

Formulating a solution in facing the challenge of information disruption. The implementation of the workshop will be a tangible manifestation of cooperation between the government and this opportunity for substantial and useful discussions," he said as quoted on Wednesday, March 6.

Even the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information hopes that this collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the UK can be a forum for sharing knowledge and experience in advancing the field of strategic communication.

The reason is, the spread of false information in various countries often increases in the momentum of general elections.

In line with Nezar, Deputy Ambassador to the British Mission Head for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Matthew Downing, also stated that currently the government faces many challenges regarding the spread of misinformation and disinformation during elections, including generative AI.

Matthew agrees, to overcome the spread of misinformation and disinformation, the implementation of strategic communication of the government has an important meaning.

Therefore, the British Government appreciates that the implementation of a workshop to increase strategic communication capacity is a continuation of the cooperation between the Government of Britain and Indonesia.
