Apple Will Pay IDR 167 Billion To Solve Batterygate Case In Canada
JAKARTA Apple will pay USD 14.4 million (IDR 167 billion) to iPhone users in Canada. This payment was made to settle the Class actionBatterygate lawsuit.
On Monday, March 4, a Canadian court agreed that Apple had to pay between 17.50 Canadian dollars (Rp203 thousand) or 150 Canadian dollars (Rp1.7 million). This amount of payment will be given to eligible iPhone users.
Reporting from CBC News, the plaintiffs felt that the judge's decision was very fair, reasonable, and the best decision. The reason is, Apple has never made a legal confession that they are guilty.
This action class lawsuit was filed by a group of iPhone users who felt that Apple had cheated. According to them, Apple quietly limited the performance of the iPhone by launching iOS 10.2.1 in 2017.
Apple claims that this action was taken to prevent the iPhone from turning off suddenly. Although the goal is good, they never communicate the change to their customers.

Reporting from 9to5mac, users of the iPhone 6, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE series who download iOS 10.2.1 or 11.2 before December 21, 2017 are entitled to receive payment. Users who take part in the class action lawsuit will accept the payment.
