These 5 Provinces Potentially Experience High Category Floods In Early March

JAKARTA - Rain with moderate to high intensity will still flush a number of areas in Indonesia in early March 2024. Even the rain causes flooding with high categories.

From the information shared by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through the Instagram account @infobmkg, Monday 4 March, there are five provinces that are predicted to experience flooding in high categories, including a small part of West Java, East Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Meanwhile, the area that is predicted to experience intermediate category rain (50-150 mm/dasarian) in early March 2024, includes most of Sumatra.

Also, a small part of Bali, parts of Java, mostly Kalimantan, parts of Nusa Tenggara, mostly Sulawesi, mostly Maluku, mostly West Papua and Papua.

The areas predicted to experience high-very high-category rain (more than 150 mm/dasarian), include most Banten, small Aceh and Lampung, mostly Bali.

Then parts of NTB and NTT, parts of West Java, Central Java, and East Java, parts of West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan, as well as a small part of South Sulawesi and Papua.

Especially in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek), extreme rainy weather is also predicted to occur until March 8, 2023.

This condition is influenced by equatorial rossby waves to the west of Java Island, and also an increase in wind speed around the Karimata Strait and Bangka Belitung Islands.
