JAKARTA - Ed Sheeran's concert at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday, March 2 yesterday presented many foreign musicians and dozens of crew who helped with the concert.

Their presence in the country, known to use the Music Performance Visa, which is a new type of visa that was first introduced on September 14, 2023.

In detail, there were 85 visas issued for Ed Sheeran's music concert, consisting of 11 Music Performers Visa (C7A index) for Ed Sheeran, Calum Scott, and accompanying musicians, as well as 74 Music Performer's Crew Visa (C7B index) for the foreign crew who came to help.

Silmy Karim as Director General of Immigration said the visa was issued for foreign musicians and teams holding concerts in Indonesia. This is expected to be able to support Indonesia as a destination for international events.

Music Performer Visa is specifically intended for musicians and their crew who want to carry out music performance activities in Indonesia. This visa is a breakthrough from the Directorate General (Directorate General General) of Immigration to facilitate licensing of foreign musicians to conduct concerts in Indonesia. This policy is expected to support Indonesia to become a designated country. international events are taken into account, "said Silmy Karim in a written press release, Sunday, March 3.

With this new type of visa, foreign musicians will find it easier to come to Indonesia. They no longer need to attach a work permit, a Police Records Certificate (SKCK), to a certificate of a minimum work experience of five years.

This simplification was carried out because they were only active in a short time in Indonesia and were considered not a competitor to local musicians.

Visa, which is included in the single entry category, is valid for 60 days and can be submitted by sponsors such as concert organizers, music promoters, or other related parties.

With immigration policies that make it easier to organize international events, we hope to advance music tourism in Indonesia. If we can become favorite destinations for international concert events, it will also have an impact on rising foreign tourists who have an impact on foreign exchange," concluded Silmy Karim.
