Apple Allows Web Apps To Return To The European Union

JAKARTA - Apple has announced that it will allow back web applications in the European Union that were previously blocked. This decision comes after criticism and research from regulators due to Apple's actions that previously blocked web apps that cost 30% of the App Store by selling subscriptions directly through their websites.

Previously, Apple cited concerns regarding security and privacy complexity as the reason behind their decision to remove the homepage web app. This homepage website app allows users to launch it as an independent app on their device.

However, in a recent announcement, Apple said that the web app will return to the iPhone with an iOS 174 update scheduled for early March.

"By receiving requests to continue to provide support for the Home web application on iOS, we will continue the capabilities of the Home web app in the European Union," the company said.

Apple's move has previously caught the attention of the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, which has stated that it is investigating the move. Apple itself stated that their move was part of an attempt to comply with EU block technology rules called the Digital Markets Act.
