Masses Attack Police On Guard At Yalimo Bawaslu Papua, Head Of Traffic Unit For Arrows

JAYAPURA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Prabowo, revealed information from a group of mobs against members of the Yalimo Police, who were on security duty at the Yalimo Bawaslu office, Papua Mountains.

"Indeed, there are reports that Yalimo Police members were injured as a result of being attacked by a mob who went berserk at the Yalimo Bawaslu office in Elelim, Thursday (29/2)," he said, Friday, March 1.

From the reports received, it was revealed that the attack that took place in Landikma Village, Abenaho District, Yalimo Regency, allegedly started with a commotion at the Bawaslu Office involving people who objected to the results of the plenary session in Abenaho District.

Residents suspected that there had been fraud, so they came using three vehicles carrying traditional sharp weapons.

A few moments later they attacked other residents including members of the National Police who tried to intervene, and secured the situation.

"Residents from Abenaho attacked with arrows that he was carrying and threw stones at members," said Kombes Pol. Benny, adding that as a result, the Deputy Chief of the Yalimo Police, Kompol Unding Alimuddin, suffered bruises on his hands due to being hit by stones.

In addition, the Head of Traffic Police was hit by arrows at the waist.

"The two victims were not seriously injured and have received medical treatment for their injuries," explained Benny.

The security and social security situation in the region is relatively conducive and members have succeeded in providing understanding.

"The situation in the area is gradually conducive," said Ignatius Benny Prabowo.

Yalimo Regency is one of eight regencies that are included in the Papua Mountains Province. The other seven districts are Jayawijaya, Lanny Jaya, Tolikara, Central Mamberamo, Nduga, Yahukimo and the Bintang Mountains.
