Sido Muncul Boss Irwan Hidayat Opens Fried Chicken Restaurant In Cipete, South Jakarta
JAKARTA - Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat opened a Bima Chicken Goreng Restaurant (Yamgor) in Cipete, South Jakarta. The idea of opening this restaurant, said Irwan, started with his preference for fried chicken food.
Irwan explained that he had actually wanted to open a fried chicken restaurant for a long time. However, it was hampered by royalties.
"The time for fried chicken alone we have to pay royalties, if foreign products have to pay royalties. Even though Indonesian fried chicken is better," said Irwan in Jakarta, last weekend.
Irwan also said that he wanted to create his own franchise. He had been planning this since a dozen years ago.
"His dream is that there will be a franchise if he sells. This intention was 12 years ago. Finally, I registered the Bima Yama Yamgor brand. I don't use the word fried chicken because it will remind competitors," continued Irwan.
He revealed that this restaurant was named 'Bima', inspired by legendary puppet characters. According to him, Bima is a great puppet character, and a satria who is loyal to friends.
"And when he ran away on his run he worked as a chef," he explained.

Irwan said the mainstay menu at the Bima Cooking Indonesia chicken restaurant is fried chicken and the aftermath soup. He made his own recipe, while studying with his friends in Semarang.
"All of me are RnD (research and development). So I don't depend on the chef, because I teach (the prescription)," he added.
For Irwan, the key to restaurant success is in the taste of a delicious dish. He believes that if the menu served is delicious and matches the people's tongue, buyers will continue to arrive.
