Great Wall Motors Reportedly To Re-launch The Premium EV Brand 'Saloon' This Year
JAKARTA - The Great Wall Motors (GWM) of a Chinese car brand is rumored to be re-launching its premium EV brand, Saloon, which briefly introduced the Mecha Dragon model in 2021.
Quoting from the Cnevpost page, Thursday, February 29, it soon revealed that its first model brand one did not appear to the public again, meaning there has been no further work on the brand for two years, and according to the latest report it was stated that Saloon would be re-launched.
"Great Wall Motor plans to re-launch the Saloon brand this year, which will be integrated under the premium brand Wey," wrote a local media report 36kr.
Based on the report, Mecha Dragon as the first model of the Saloon to enter the Sedan segment will launch in the second half of this year, and the car will be assembled at a factory located in Xushui district, Baoding, Hebei province.
For information, Saloon launched Mecha Dragon on the first day of the Guangzhou automotive exhibition on November 19, 2021, at that time this car was present in a limited edition with only 101 units with prices ranging from 488,000 yuan or above Rp1 billion.
One of the main selling points of the model at the time was that the model featured four LiDARs, which Saloon said at the time was the first in the world to do so.
