Problems In The Election Findings Of Komnas HAM: There Are 3 Problems That Are In The Spotlight

YOGYAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) found at least 3 problems related to the implementation of the 2024 General Election. Let's find out what the problems of the election found by Komnas HAM!

The chairman of Komnas HAM, Atnike Nova Sigiro, explained that this discovery was obtained from field monitoring carried out by his group in 15 provinces and 50 regencies/cities on 12-16 February 2024.

"The first is apart from the right to vote for marginal groups, as Komnas HAM pays attention to the rights of marginalized groups who are vulnerable to the risk of losing their rights or not being able to do their voting rights adequately or with quality," he said at the Komnas HAM Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Wednesday (21/2/2024).

The second problem is related to the issue of neutrality of state apparatus. For Atnike, this is an important part to ensure that the constitutional rights of the community in choosing presidential candidates until legislative candidates can be held freely, independently, directly, in person, freely, and confidentially.

Meanwhile, the third problem that is the focus of monitoring the group is apart from the health rights and the living rights of 2024 Election officers or the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS).

"This is in particular a follow-up as well as part of the reflection of serious events that took place in the 2019 election, where we know there were many casualties from voting officers," he continued.

Meanwhile, a member of the Komnas HAM Election Monitoring Team, Saurlin P. Siagian, said that one example of the problem in the right to vote for marginal and vulnerable groups is the lack of electoral accessibility for disabled groups.

Examples of other problems also occur in fulfilling the voting rights of indigenous and remote groups of people, where some indigenous peoples are not included in the voter list.

"After that, the second one is adrift of the neutrality of the state apparatus. The discovery of the neutrality of the state apparatus is closely related to money politics to win certain election participants," he said.

The head of the Komnas HAM Election Monitoring Team, Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi, then added that regarding the issue of health rights and the right to life of 2024 election officers.

One of the things that are very highlighted is the lack of attention from the KPU and Bawaslu in making recommendations from Komnas HAM to fulfill this aspect.

"The Indonesian KPU has not succeeded in making a policy to reduce the workload of the KPPS, so that the KPPS works beyond a reasonable workload," he concluded.
