Demonstrations In Front Of The Indonesian KPU Colored By Bottle Intimidation And Throwing
JAKARTA - Hundreds of joint masses from the Jabodetabek student alliance, Pemuda Indonesia Center (PIC) and the Merdeka Political Student Block held an action in front of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, on Friday, February 23, afternoon.
The action, titled the KPU and Bawaslu escorts, was held since 15.00 WIB. The action called for resistance to the nation's dividers, escorting the KPU and Bawaslu and the people of the Indonesian pillars of peace. The masses also supported the peaceful 2024 election.
Chairman of the Merdeka Political Student Block, Abdul Fakuh, said that high school students who are members of the Merdeka Political Student Block and student alliances throughout Jabodetabek took to the streets to support the Indonesian KPU and Bawaslu to complete their duties in recapitulating the votes for the 2024 General Election.
"We from the student and student alliances throughout Jabodetabek want to encourage the KPU to always be optimal and complete this election professionally," Abdul Fakuh told reporters in front of the Indonesian KPU Office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng, Friday, February 23.
Students hope that the KPU can work even more enthusiasticly in carrying out their duties. We students and students continue to support the success of the 2024 General Election.
"We should have a positive impact on this action, but from the masses across from the opposite, they actually set a bad precedent for us," regretted the student from Parung, West Java.
Hundreds of students and joint students received intimidation from other masses. They were thrown with bottles and provoked.

Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed 967 joint personnel from the TNI and Polda Metro Jaya to secure a demonstration in front of the KPU RI office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, Friday, February 23.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said all personnel involved in security to act persuasively, not provoked, prioritizing negotiations, services and humanists.
"For traffic, there will be closures around the Indonesian KPU, so we urge people who will pass in front of the Indonesian KPU to find other alternative roads," said Kombes Susatyo when confirmed, Friday, February 23.
Kombes Susatyo appealed to the participants of this afternoon's demonstration to pay attention to the rights of other communities.
