PBB: Thousands Of People In Gaza Suffer From Starvation And Severe Malnutrition
JAKARTA - UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis expressed concern after the UN Food Agency stopped sending food and medical aid to the northern Gaza Strip."Thousands of people in Gaza are suffering from hunger and severe malnutrition, and aid deliveries are reduced when the number needs to be increased,""I reiterate my demands and the UN General Assembly which repeatedly demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. This is a matter of life and death, including innocent children," Francis wrote on X.He made the statement after the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) on Tuesday announced that it had stopped sending much-needed food aid to northern Gaza "until conditions allowed distribution safely.""WFP is very committed to immediately reaching out to desperate people across Gaza, but safety and security to distribute food aid is important - and for those who receive it - it must be ensured," they said in a statement.Israel has been attacking the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on October 7. The Israeli attack has killed from 29,410 Palestinians and caused mass destruction and scarcity of basic necessities.
Meanwhile, less than 1,200 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the Hamas attack.The Israeli war in Gaza has forced 85 percent of the population of the region to become refugees amid a shortage of acute food, clean water, and medicines, while 60 percent of the bag's regional infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
