Deputy Of Commission II Of The DPR F-PKB: Rights To Constitutional Rights, No One Is Allowed To Block

Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Yanuar Prihatin asked all parties not to be afraid of the discourse on submitting the right to inquiry in the DPR in response to allegations of fraud in the 2024 General Election.

He considered that the right of inquiry had a good purpose, because testing and conducting investigations into the implementation of laws or government policies that were strategic and important, also had a broad impact on the life of society, nation and state.

"The right of inquiry is the constitutional right of the DPR which is guaranteed by law. If the conditions are met for the application for this right of inquiry, then no one can hinder this process," Yanuar said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 23.

According to him, constitutional mechanisms in the DPR need to be pursued when the government does not want to straighten out allegations of irregularities in the election. Formally, according to him, the right to investigation or the right to inquiry is protected by law.

He said the alleged election fraud was not enough to only be handled through aspects of law enforcement by election organizers or related officials, or simply to calculate disputes over vote disputes at the Constitutional Court, because the escalation is broad.

The legislator from PKB explained that the right of inquiry in the DPR is a constructive and constitutional step, and reflects that the DPR cares and serves to supervise important matters that have an impact on national life.

"If the DPR does nothing, then this institution will also be blasphemed by the public because it is considered barren in response to the implementation of elections that are considered chaotic," he said.

According to him, the application for the right of inquiry will depend on the coalition in the DPR in negotiating and confrontation. The result, he said, was seen when the decision was made at the DPR Plenary Meeting, whether accepted or rejected.

"The DPR applies for the right to inquiry is normal. If you don't feel there is a mistake and cheating, you don't need to be afraid," he said.
