South Sumatra Police Destroy 108.9 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine And 134,423 Ecstasy Pills
The South Sumatra Police (Sumsel) destroyed 108.9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 134,423 ecstasy pills from 22 suspects for the January-February 2024 period.
The destruction of drug evidence was carried out by dissolving using a blender whose destruction process was directly led by the South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Rachmat A Wibowo.
Before destroying it, the Forensic Laboratory officer of the South Sumatra Police Branch checked the amphetamine and methamphetamine levels contained in it, after it was confirmed that the results of the examination of the evidence positive for containing drugs were immediately destroyed.
"Handling drug abuse in South Sumatra must be treated like handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Where all parties are seen and play an active role and work hand in hand together in eradicating drugs," said the South Sumatra Police Chief as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 23.

The Kapolda said that in terms of function, tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and hundreds of hurricanes of ecstasy pills were useless, but from an economical point of view it reached more than Rp. 100 billion, therefore he emphasized to all elements of society to ensure that this drug evidence does not lead to fraud.
The perpetrators were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) Subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a sentence of death / life imprisonment.
