The Ummat Party Asks The KPU To Stop Sirekap, Alludes To Servers Abroad Violating The Law

JAKARTA - The Ummat Party DPP urges the General Election Commission (KPU) to stop the Voice Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) because it is considered to be experiencing problems.

"The Ummat Party urges the KPU to immediately stop using Sirekap and calculate manually," said General Chairperson of the Ummat Party Ridho Rahmadi at the Ummat Party DPP office, South Jakarta, Thursday, February 22.

The reason said Ridho, the Legal Council of the Ummat DPP assessed that the Sirekap application was problematic and full of fraud because it used an outside server that incidentally had problems in Indonesia.

"Since the Sirekap development was developed for the benefit of the 2024 election, it has been developed on Alibaba's server in Indonesia, then on its way it faces attacks and then there are steps from the KPU," said Ridho.

In 2023, continued Ridho, there was a security gap in Alibaba found by one of the companies, where the security gap allowed it to allow for unauthorized access.

"This is our election data, our sovereignty, in one server box, everything is confidential, namely it can then be accessed by the owner of this private company, this server," explained Ridho.

Ridho emphasized that placing the election server abroad violates Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection and Government Regulation number 71 of 2019 concerning the necessity to have servers in Indonesia for important data related to the public sector and using the state budget.
