11 Suspects Of International Network Narcotics Smugglers Threatened With Death Penalty
JAKARTA - A number of evidences of 42,093 grams of methamphetamine, 0.0485 grams of synthetic marijuana and 515.8 grams of synthetic cannabinoids were destroyed by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) using an incinerator by burning, Thursday, February 22.
The daily executive (Plh) of the Deputy for Eradication of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, Brigadier General Sabaruddin Ginting, said that the evidence destroyed came from three disclosures of narcotics crimes involving 11 suspects.
Of the three cases that were successfully uncovered by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, one of them is still in the process of developing an investigation.
Meanwhile, the other two cases are related to the discovery of methamphetamine-type narcotics smuggling. Smuggling is carried out by international network syndicates from Malaysia to Indonesia.
"From Penang Malaysia through the territorial waters in East Aceh," said Brigadier General Sabaruddin, Thursday, February 22.
The investigation was carried out by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency together with Customs and Excise in East Aceh on Sunday, January 7. Then on Tuesday, January 9, the team stopped a brown boat called a two-head boat, in the waters of Langsa Telaga Tujuh Village, West Langsa District, Langsa City.
"Then the officers searched the ship and managed to find 40 plastic bags of crystal methamphetamine weighing a total of 42,177 grams or 42.17 kilograms," he said.
Joint officers then secured the crew members (ABK) with the initials AB and FA alias M. Based on the examination of the two suspects, the officers then arrested five other suspects with the initials SA, MD, AM, MA and HU.
Meanwhile, in the second case, the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency arrested two men with the initials NM and AW on Thursday, February 1. In the disclosure, an expedition package containing 515.8 grams of synthetic cannabinoids was found from China.

"The arrests were made at a house in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. The packages containing the main ingredients for making synthetic marijuana are packaged in two packs of aluminum foils. Each contains synthetic cannabinoids and potassium carbonate," he said.
Based on the confessions of the two, this evidence belongs to someone with the initials DSN alias BE who is now on the People's Wanted List (DPO).
"Meanwhile, the evidence for synthetic marijuana weighing 0.0485 grams is the rest of the laboratory test, which we will destroy at this time," he said.
The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 subsidiary Article 112 paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The maximum sentence for the suspects is the death penalty.
Meanwhile, before the evidence was destroyed, the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency first conducted a sample test by the Narcotics Laboratory Center team, with a set of field test kits.
The legal basis for this extermination activity is Article 91 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. In this article, it is stated that BNN RI, in this case investigators, is obliged to destroy evidence a maximum of 7 days after the evidence gets a stipulation from the local prosecutor's office.
Meanwhile, Article 90 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics states that a small percentage of narcotics evidence is set aside for the purposes of laboratory testing and evidence of cases at trial.
"The investigator's authority in destroying the evidence is also contained in Article 75 letter K, Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said.
