Malaysia Wants To Cooperate With RI Strengthening After The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Malaysian People's Council, Tan Sri Dato, Abdul hopes that the president-elect of Indonesia as a result of the 2024 presidential election can strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"I think Indonesia and Malaysia are not only neighbors. We have been brothers for a long time. With the election of the new president of Indonesia, God willing, the cooperation between the two countries will strengthen, not only in terms of value equality but also in common interests," said Tan Sri Dato Johari during a special interview in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

Tan Sri Dato Johari also believes that in the coming year Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relations in various sectors, including trade, food security, as well as a number of cooperation and student exchanges will be better.

According to him, the parliament of Malaysia and Indonesia can encourage very large opportunities for cooperation in the economic sector.

"Indonesia rose very quickly. Likewise with Malaysia. So I think we can combine the strength of both to form or not only ASEAN, but a new block from the economy that has just emerged in this region," he said.

"With the current position of Indonesia and Malaysia, I think together and with all the capabilities we have, we can have a big impact," he said.

Furthermore, Tan Sri Dato Johari explained that the relations between the people of the two countries are currently very developing, with many Indonesians working in Malaysia and vice versa.

"This relationship is increasing, not only in terms of the trade industry. I think this will also be better in the future," he said.

When asked about moving the capital city of Indonesia from Jakarta to the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in Kalimantan, Tan Sri Dato Johari said: "Everyone is talking about (IKN) in Malaysia".

According to him, moving the capital city from Jakarta to the archipelago will increase not only economic relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, but also the economy in the archipelago.

"Of course it will have a bigger impact on the region and have many benefits," he said.
