JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba organized various projects. North Maluku Regional Secretary Samsudin Abdul Kadir and North Maluku Inspectorate Nirwan M. T. Ali were questioned by investigators regarding this matter. Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Samsudin and Nirwan were examined as witnesses on Monday, February 19. They were examined along with two other people, namely Jufri Salim who is a civil servant (PNS) and retired civil servant named Muabdin Hi Radjab. Four witnesses were present and confirmed among other things related to the alleged full role and active intervention of the AGK suspect to organize various projects,''' Ali said in his written statement to reporters quoted on Wednesday, February 21. In addition, investigators also investigated the alleged utak-utik of the positions carried out by Abdul Gani of the four witnesses. However, Ali did not want to specify what information was obtained from the witnesses. Previously reported, Abdul Gani Kasub was a suspect along with five others. They are the Head of the North Maluku Housing and Settlement Office of Adnan Hasanudin, the Head of PUPR Maluku Daud Ismail, and the Head of BPPBJ Malut Ridwan Arsan. Then he was named as a suspect was Ramadhan Ibrahim who was Abdul Gani's aide as well as two private parties Stevi Thomas and Kristian Wuisan. In this case, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said Abdul Gani was suspected of having participated in managing the winner of the infrastructure project in North Maluku whose money came from the APBD. The budget ceiling reaches more than Rp500 billion. From the project, the AGK determines the amount of deposit from the contractors,' said Alexander. Abdul Gani then asked his subordinates to manipulate the work as if it had been completed more than 50 percent. With the goal so that budget disbursement could be made immediately,' said Alexander.

Abdul did not directly receive money from the contractors. He used a holding account held by his trusted people, said Alexander. "As initial preliminary evidence that goes into a holding account of Rp. 2.2 billion. Money is used for AGK's personal interests in the form of payment of lodging at hotels and paying for the health concerned," said Alexander.
