Corruption Pupuk Rp 14 Billion, Kejari Karawang Giring 2 Suspects Enter Detention

The District Attorney (Kejari) of Karawang Regency, West Java, has detained two suspects in a case of alleged corruption in the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in 2017.

Head of the Karawang District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Syaifullah, said the two suspects detained in the case included H from distributors PT Abadi Tiga Saudara (ATS) and TH who are retired General Manager of PT Pupuk Kujang.

The alleged corruption case began on November 30, 2016. TH as the Marketing and Sales GM of PT Pupuk Kujang proposed the appointment of H from PT ATS as a subsidized fertilizer distributor, while the requirements for PT ATS did not meet.

For TH's actions, PT ATS was chosen to be one of the distributors of subsidized fertilizers in 2017, then suspect H made a redeem and distributed fertilizers.

The suspect's initials H redeemed urea fertilizer and organic fertilizer for a total of 5,930 tons. The amount is not in accordance with the allocation determined by the Agriculture Service in 2017 as much as 1,912 tons, so there is a difference of 4,018 tons that cannot be accounted for.

"But when it was implemented, the distribution was not in accordance with the original allocation plan," said Syaifullah as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 21.

H's actions as a distributor also cost the state Rp14,514,638,112. The Prosecutor's Office has also confiscated PT ATS's evidence through PT Pupuk Kujang amounting to Rp4 billion.

The Karawang Kejari detained two suspects for 20 days. From February 20, 2024 to March 10, 2024.

Meanwhile, the VP of Communication for the Pupuk Kujang Company, Muhamad Arief Rahman, revealed that the company respects the legal process for the determination of two suspects for alleged subsidized fertilizer corruption by the Karawang Kejari.

"Pupuk Kujang respects the ongoing legal process. Pupuk Kujang also fully and cooperatively supports the efforts of all authorities including the Prosecutor's Office," said Pupuk Kujang Company Communication VP, Muhamad Arief Rahman.

He confirmed that one of the suspects with the initials TH was a retired PT Pupuk Kujang who last served as General Manager of Marketing.
