Asked About Jokowi Being An Inter-Party Bridge, Mahfud MD: Everything Can Happen In The Future

JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate number three, Mahfud MD did not want to suspect the contents of the meeting between President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the General Chairperson of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh on Sunday night, February 18. He said, all possibilities could happen because politics must have its dynamics.

This was conveyed by Mahfud when asked about the meeting at the Merdeka Palace and Jokowi's statement later which declared it a bridge between parties.

"Yesterday I said, it was Pak Jokowi and Pak Surya Paloh who knew. If I couldn't guess. Everything could happen in the future. His name is politics, his dynamics is high," Mahfud told reporters at the Mahfud MD Initiative, Senen, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 19.

Mahfud believes that after the election, all parties will move from their respective parties. Starting from President Jokowi to presidential candidate number two, Prabowo Subianto, who is currently successful in the quick count or quick count results, must have his own dynamics.

"So that the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs does not want to bother. It's normal for politics, the number one thing is that the country is safe, that's one. The Republic of Indonesia remains our home, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as a form of the country," said Mahfud.

Moreover, Mahfud now has a new focus, namely maintaining the course of democracy and justice. "I'm now concerned there," he said.

"Democracy must be right because if democracy is played it is just waiting for time to mess up. Because democracy in its history cannot be tolerated by any ruler as great as any. It can clog for a while (controller, ed), a year, two years but democracy, if converted, will pave the way itself," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
