There Has Been A Drastic Voice Reduction, East Jakarta KPU Calls Witness Data For Election Participants More Accurate

The General Election Commission (KPU) of East Jakarta said that the number of changes in the number of votes for the 2024 General Election in East Jakarta was due to findings of extreme data on the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) website.

The extreme data in question is the discrepancy between Sirekap data and data obtained by the Vote Organizing Group (KPPS) officer.

"There are around 300 extreme data that are being corrected by the East Jakarta KPU operator. Our target is completed within the next three days," said East Jakarta KPU Technical Division Chairman Carlos Paath to reporters, Monday, February 19.

The Indonesian KPU, he continued, had given directions for the East Jakarta KPU to immediately improve extreme data that was not in accordance with the data held by the KPPS.

"We will accelerate the process of improving extreme data so that it does not become biased among the community," he said.

The extreme data, he said, for example, the number of permanent voters (DPT) was 300 people, but the number of votes acquired by election participants reached 800 votes.

"We have corrected these data. The reference is that C, the results of the plano at the TPS, can be known from Sirekap. Then, the recapitulation in the sub-district," said Carlos.

The reason for the existence of extreme data is because there are numerical numbers in the C form, the results of the plano with the Sirekap system show differences. For example, KPPS places tens in the hundreds, while in the number the units are given a cross mark, which means empty, the system will read it in hundreds, even though the results are tens.

"Well, that's the fault of the KPPS itself. This error is the majority like this, the writing error from the KPPS is if the system itself while the KPPS wrote it right, we think the system will read it right," he said.

However, this is also not entirely the fault of the KPPS officers. One example of a decrease in votes occurred in one of the DPR RI candidates from PAN, Desy Nurul Yunita, who also experienced a drastic decline after previously having a large number of votes.

The vote from 8,042 votes on Sunday, February 18 suddenly fell to 4,910 votes on Monday, February 19.

According to Carlos, this was due to extreme data. However, Carlos emphasized that Sirekap data is only a tool and as a form of KPU transparency towards the recapitulation of the 2024 General Election votes.

"The results of the recapitulation that we use are manual recapitulation of tiered votes, ranging from polling stations, sub-districts, cities, provinces to national levels. This is in accordance with Election Law No. 7 of 2017. So, the reference is manual recapitulation which can later be submitted concretely to the public. finished recapitulation in the sub-district," he said.

He added that the witnesses participating in the election could include C data from the plano to officers during the recapitulation in the sub-district, so that there was no error in the recapitulation of votes.

"The data held by the witnesses participating in the election is more valid and accurate. When the witnesses participating in the election have data, of course there is no extreme data," he said.
