China Is Still The Most Sales Base For VW As Well As Its Electric Car

JAKARTA - Volkswagen (VW), a well-known automotive company from Germany managed to start in 2024 impressively and managed to record 698,200 car shipments, up 13.3 percent.

Reporting from Reuters, Monday, February 19, China recorded the results of leading growth. Not only that, sales of cars under the name VW in the bamboo curtain country rose significantly by 43 percent.

It was stated that strong sales in China were caused by very low results in January last year, which were influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Moreover, last year's Chinese New Year celebrations took place at the end of January.

Meanwhile, sales of VWs for areas such as Central and East Europe also increased by 8.2 percent. However, this impressive result was not followed by the Asia-Pacific region which decreased by 16.3 percent in January.

This result adds to the optimism of this German manufacturer in achieving good sales for 2024, although the world auto industry will face various challenges from rivals and dynamic market phenomena.

VW managed to end 2023 with brilliant achievements to successfully sell 4.87 million units handed over to customers around the world. Of these, around 394,000 units of them are electric vehicles (EVs).

For the largest market for VW brand electric vehicles (EVs) still China, followed by Germany, the US, UK, Sweden, France, Norway and Belgium.

In the last year period, China's most popular product was VW ID.3, with sales of more than 75,000 units in 2023, an increase of more than 200 percent from the previous year.
