DKI Jakarta KPU: Four KPPS Officers In The 2024 Election Died

JAKARTA - The DKI General Election Commission (KPU) noted that four officials of the 2024 General Election polling group (KPPS) died and ensured that all their rights were fulfilled according to regulations.

"Until now, four KPPS officers have died," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial General Election Commission (KPU) Socialization, Voter Education and Community Participation Division (KPU) Astri Megatari in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 17.

Astri said that one of the KPPS officers from Jatinegara Village, East Jakarta, Joni Windari, died on Friday (16/2).

Then, a member of the KPPS Kapuk Muara Village, North Jakarta, named Hasanah.

"That's right, there were two additional KPPS officers who died in Jakarta," he added.

Previously, the DKI KPU had received data regarding two KPPS members who died due to fatigue and an accident on Friday (16/2).

First, the Head of KPPS, where the Voters (TPS) Number 70 of Rawa Badak Utara Village, Iyos Rusli (52) died while carrying out the task of counting votes on Wednesday (14/2) night.

Second, a KPPS officer with the initials AJ (24) died after a single accident in Central Jakarta when he was about to deliver logistics from Kebon Kacang Village to the Tanah Abang Sports Center (GOR).

The departures of the four election organizers were announced through the official Instagram of the KPU @kpu_dki as a form of grief and condolences.

"The big family of the KPU DKI Jakarta Province expresses their condolences," said the contents of the post.

The DKI KPU prays that the deeds and worship of the deceased will be accepted by Allah SWT and the families left behind will be given strength and fortitude.

The DKI Jakarta General Election Commission coordinates with the DKI Health Office to be ready to provide health services for KPPS officers at the puskesmas.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has recorded 27 deaths of KPPS officers in the 2024 General Election. These cases were found in a number of areas including Central Java, West Java, East Java, Banten, and DKI Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta Health Office said as many as 13 KPPS members had to undergo treatment due to health problems referring to data recorded as of February 15, 2024.
