KPU: 23 KPPS Died And 2,878 Sick After Calculation Of Votes For The 2024 Election
The General Election Commission or KPU said 35 people died after undergoing vote count duties in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). Of the dozens of people, 23 of them are officers of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS).
"There were 35 people who died, with details, PPS 3 people, KPPS 23 people and Linmas 9 people," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, quoted on Saturday, February 17.
The number of people who died was based on data received by the KPU as of February 16, at 18.00 WIB.
Based on KPU Regulation Number 8 of 2022 and KPU Decree Number 59 of 2023, the officers who die will receive compensation of IDR 36 million and funeral expenses assistance of IDR 10 million.

The amount of compensation is based on the Letter of the Minister of Finance S-647/MK.02/2022 through the Other Input Fee Units (SBML) for General Election Stages and Election Stages.
In addition, the KPU also recorded 3,909 sick people after undergoing the vote count process. Most of them are KPPS officers.
"(The number of sick officers) PPK 119 people, PPS 596 people, KPPS 2,878 people, and Linmas 316 people," said Hasyim.
