FIFA's Latest Ranking Release: Indonesia Ranked Up, Vietnam Free Falls After The 2023 Asian Cup

JAKARTA - The World Football Federation (FIFA) has released its latest ranking. Indonesia experienced a significant increase after participating in the 2023 Asian Cup, while Vietnam went free, being knocked out of the top 100.

FIFA's release on Thursday, February 15, 2024, is known that Indonesia is now ranked 142nd in the world. This means showing a four-place increase from the previous one.

Indonesia's ranking is good thanks to additional points after appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup. In four matches in the tournament, the Indonesian national team under Shin Tae-yong was able to get an additional 8.65 points.

Vietnam got poor results. Their ranking went free, down 11 places to get them out of the top 100. The Golden Stars are now ranked 105th in the world.

This situation was experienced by Vietnam after they lost to Japan, Indonesia and Iraq while appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup. They lost 41 points.

Vietnam is the country that experienced the most points reductions in the official release of FIFA which was updated as of February 15, 2024.

The decline in Vietnam's ranking made no more Southeast Asian countries in the top 100 FIFA. The highest ranking held by Southeast Asian representatives is in the hands of Thailand, which sits in the 101st position of FIFA.

Meanwhile, Malaysia fell two positions to 132th place. The Philippines rose one rank to 139 even though it did not participate in the 2023 Asian Cup.

Apart from the ASEAN team, Asian countries participating in the 2023 Asian Cup also experienced FIFA-ranked permutations.

Qatar's most significant spike was won by the 2023 Asian Cup.

Marquez Lopez's team has now moved up 21 places to 37 FIFA.

While the top 10 rankings in FIFA still do not change. Argentina remains in the top position followed by France and England
