Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024 Results: Beat Malaysia 3-0, Indonesia To Semifinals

JAKARTA The Indonesian women's badminton team qualified for the semifinals of the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) after stopping Malaysia with a landslide score of 3-0.

Indonesia got the top four tickets after the women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo came back to win dramatically three games 14-21, 21-15, and 21-16 over Wong Ling Ching, Friday, January 16, 2024.

At the beginning of the first game, Ester and her opponents took turns scoring points up to 3-3. After that, Wong managed to score five points in a row to lead.

Ester had chased with four points in a row, but Wong again scored seven points to lead 15-7. After that moment, the Indonesian representatives did not have the opportunity to get closer to distance.

In the second game, Ester and her opponent played tight until 8-8. Ester then continued to lead to extend the match to the deciding game.

The third game match was also fierce. Ester had a 15-11 lead before the opponent chased and equalized the score. Luckily, after 16-16, Ester managed to score five points in a row.

Indonesia secured the first point through Putri Kusuma Wardani. The 21-year-old badminton player also won dramatically the rubber games 21-12, 18-21, and 21-13 over Karupahthevan Letshaana.

The second point for Red and White was then contributed by the women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari / Ribka Sugiarto. This pair stopped Pearly Tan / Thinaah Muralitharan.
