10 Civilians Killed, Hezbollah Reminds Israel To Be Responsible As A Result

JAKARTA - Senior Hezbollah officials and MP Hassan Fadllah said on Thursday Israel would face retaliation following a series of attacks in southern Lebanon the day before killing 10 civilians, half of whom were children.

"The enemy (Israel) will suffer the consequences for this crime," Fadlallah told Reuters when asked about the militant group's reaction to Lebanon's deadliest day since tensions at the border escalated as a result of the crisis in Gaza. February 15th.

Hezbollah has been carrying out gunfire for more than four months with the Israeli military to support its Palestinian ally, Hamas.

Hezbollah said its rockets also prevented Israel from carrying out broader attacks on Lebanon.

Earlier, an Israeli attack on Wednesday came after the shooting of a military base in northern Israel that killed a soldier. Hezbollah did not claim responsibility for the attack.

Fadlallah said Hezbollah had "a legitimate right to defend its people and would not be afraid to do what was necessary to protect it" and insisted that Israel stop its war in Gaza.

Separately, Lebanese interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati instructed Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib to file a new complaint to the UN Security Council over an attack that caused casualties on Wednesday.
