Floods, 12 TPS In Sunter, North Jakarta, Hold Postponed Elections On February 18
JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) Wahyu Dinata said as many as 12 polling stations (TPS) in Sunter, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta will hold follow-up elections on Sunday, February 18. The election for dozens of polling stations was carried out because the area was flooded due to heavy rains on polling day on Wednesday, February 14. Referring to Article 112 of KPU Regulation Number 25 of 2023 concerning Voting and Vote Counting, it was stated that the follow-up election was held no later than 10 days after the voting. The last coordination with North Jakarta KPU friends, is likely Sunday," Wahyu told reporters, Thursday, February 15. The twelve polling stations in Sunter were forced to postpone voting because the ballot boxes were flooded while they were still stored in the local RW office. On that basis, Wahyu said that election logistics would be redistributed again to replace ballot boxes until the ballots were damaged due to the flood. "For the same time, according to the existing stages (07.00 to 13.00 WIB)," Wahyu said. Previously, KPU RI Commissioner Idham Holik said the polling place (TPS) affected by bad weather this morning could submit a follow-up election. Follow-up voting can be carried out if the existing situation did not allow for the voting to be carried out until the TPS was closed at 13.00 local time..
