Remind Tri Dharma's Charity, BEM From 8 Compact Provinces Invites Young People To Enliven TPS Today

JAKARTA - The Alliance of a number of BEM universities from 8 provinces in the country invites students to practice Tri Dharma Universities to vote and enliven the 2024 Election polling stations (TPS) today Wednesday, February 14.

Legal practitioner Nur Fikri said students have a mandate that is carried out so that it is natural to be directly involved in using their voting rights in the 2024 General Election in accordance with Tri Dharma, namely education, research and community service.

"Of course, my friends have other than constitutional rights, my friends also have basic mandates. What is the basic mandate of a student? Namely Tri Dharma," Fikri said in a written statement, Wednesday, February 14.

Fikri said this during a discussion on 'Let's Students Go to the TPS, Youth Determining the 2024 General Election', which was held simultaneously in 8 provinces including Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"Don't let golput, of course in the view of students that occur in this case there are many dynamics, problems related to democracy. But we can't blame each other," he said.

Similarly, the head of the discussion event in Central Java, Salsabila Nur Syifa said, through the Injury Time Forum, his party invited students to oversee the implementation of the election so that it would run conducive, peaceful, and certainly not golf.

"Anyone who is elected must be supported. Students are candidates for national leaders who determine the direction where this nation is being brought," said Salsabila.

He hopes that students will at the same time play a role in countering information or fake news or hoaxes. They must be able to distinguish good and bad news to keep democracy going well.

Likewise, the representative of the East Java Student Alliance (Amatir) Ahmad Asas Hakiki emphasized that students who are important are not on the accuracy of their choice, but must first come to the TPS. According to him, students currently have three diseases that are abbreviated as 'hepatitis'.

Hepatitis' stands for hedonism, pragmatism, and apathy. This is what grows, hedon when he wants to live in a climate, pragmatic wants to be simple, apathy does not care. We must be aware and educate at the same time, that we are the soap opera of society. If it does not enter the realm of politics, we cannot bring the future, "he said.

In line with others, the NTB BEM Forum from Mataram University (Unram) Herianto held discussions with a number of BEM chairmen at universities throughout NTB in order to increase awareness and participation of young voters in the 2024 General Election. Because, February 14, 2024 is a historic moment because the majority of voters in Indonesia are currently dominated by millennial voters and gen z.

"So, democracy is a thought, February 14 is a historic and very urgent moment in our involvement, so students should not get involved," he said.

Meanwhile, Balikpapan University Chancellor Isradi Zainal said students must be able to provide education about elections to the public. He conveyed the sharpness and rationality of students is to see the success of the democratic party with the role of young people who go to polling stations to determine the direction of the nation through peaceful elections.
