Bawaslu Searches West Coast DPRD Candidates Allegedly Playing Money Politics In A Calm Period

LAMPUNG - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is investigating the alleged legislative candidate (caleg) of the West Coast DPRD in Lampung to carry out money politics during the calm period of the 2024 General Election in Pekon (Village) Sumber Rejo, Bengkunat District.

"Yes, Panwascam's findings are suspected of money politics allegedly being carried out by participants in the West Coast three electoral district," said West Coast Bawaslu member J Wiliam Gulta when contacted from South Lampung, Tuesday, February 13, confiscated by Antara.

William emphasized that his party had taken the right steps to handle and follow-up cases of alleged money politics.

"Bawaslu district is handling violations involving the Gakumdu Center (Integrated Law Enforcement)," he said.

He said that the Supervisory of polling stations (PTPS) in the West Coast region began to monitor the potential for campaigns and indications of money politics at polling stations (TPS) and surrounding areas during the D-1 election or February 13, 2024.

He emphasized that PTPS has full control to carry out monitoring related to these two things around the TPS on the West Coast.

According to him, if PTPS finds indications of a campaign or money politics at the TPS and its surroundings, then these indications will be reported to the Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) at the sub-district level.

The report will be investigated before it is decided to fulfill elements of violation, campaign or money politics.

Based on previously obtained information, there was an alleged campaign on a calm day by one of the legislative candidates on behalf of Cici Misma on February 11, 2024 at 14:20 WIB at the Sumber Rejo Pekon, Bengkunat District.

Currently, the evidence for the simulation of ballot paper and envelope containing Rp150 thousand has been held by one of the residents of Pekon Sumber Rejo.
