Real Madrid's Full Journey Of Obstacles Towards Leipzig, Had An Accident

JAKARTA - Real Madrid had to travel to the Red Bull Arena to face RB Leipzig in the first leg of the last 16 of the 2023/2024 Champions League, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, early morning WIB.

Their trip to Germany turned out to be full of obstacles. The strike at Leipzig Airport forced Los Blancos to reschedule their trip to stay on time.

Instead of direct flights to Leipzig, the Madrid plane landed at Erfurt on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11.38 local time.

As a result, Madrid had to continue their journey to Leipzig by land, to be precise by bus. Erfurt's distance to Steigonberger Grandhotelshof, Leipzig, is quite far, about 160 kilometers.

However, the bus trip almost ended tragically for Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

A sedan collided with the Madrid team bus on Jalan Raya A4 between Zachelborn and Nohra. The sedan driver ignored the bus while switching lanes and broke the sedan's rearview mirror.

"The extent of the damage to Real Madrid buses is still unclear. However, they had stopped for a moment. Fortunately, all those involved continued their journey without incident," wrote German newspaper Bild.

Luckily, Real Madrid's squad and technical staff who were on the bus did not feel a crash and could continue their journey without any problems.

"A fan who recorded the bus in his car lost control. He lost control at the wheel and bounced. We didn't realize it. People who came in the bus behind us saw it," Madrid source told Marca.

At around 14:40 local time, Real Madrid finally arrived at the team's hotel, Steigenberger, which is located in downtown Leipzig.

Meanwhile, upon arrival at the hotel, the bus driver said there were clear scratches as a result of the collision with the sedan's rearview mirror.
