Police Call Fatigue Caused By Chinese Snorkeling Tourists At Pink Beach NTT Dies
The West Manggarai Police Unit (Satpol Airud) said fatigue was the cause of tourists from China who died while snorkeling at Pink Beach Komodo National Park Area (TNK).
"We have investigated, we checked from the ship and guide (tourist guide) then we took the victim to the hospital, now we are waiting for developments from the victim's family," said Head of the West Manggarai Police and Air (Satpol Airud) Unit of the West Manggarai Police AKP I Wayan Merta when contacted in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, Saturday 10 February, confiscated by Antara. He explained that the victim named Zhang Yanyanyang (41) who traveled with his parents in Labuan Bajo on Friday 9 Fabruari 2024. The chronology of the incident, he continued, the victim along with 24 other guests after traveling on Padar Island in the TNK Area, made a visit to Pink Beach using Speedboat East Cruise Komodo. When they arrived at Pink Beach, tourists were asked to only enjoy tourist destinations for one hour and were not allowed to dive to the surface. "However, after more than an hour, tour guides did not find victims when all the guests were gathered. Victims were then searched and found in a state lying and fainted on the beach. "They were told by the guide that at Pink Beach no one was swimming and the pilot was standing by on the beach. He (the victim) was not known by the guide, the suspicion of dying due to fatigue and he was not known to be swimming. He was wearing only clothes swimming, did not wear life jackets," he explained. Furthermore, the guide and several speedboat crews evacuated by carrying out first aid, and took the victim to Labuan Bajo.
Arriving in Labuan Bajo, the victim was rushed to Siloam Labuan Bajo Hospital for further medical treatment.

Currently, he continued, the bodies of the victims are still at the Komodo Labuan Bajo Hospital and the parents of the victims are still waiting for their families from China to return the victims. "The travel agents are still coordinating with them, still waiting for their families to come. They don't want the bodies to come to their village, because they want cremation. Because there is no here, they will cremation in Bali and return to China with their ashes. Now they are still waiting for their families, because their parents don't speak English," he said.
