Central Jakarta PMI Prepares To Anticipate Emergency Risks During The 2024 General Election
JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is ready to provide humanitarian services to anticipate emergency risks during the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
During the standby rally at the Ksatrya Foundation Building Courtyard, West Cempaka Putih Village, Cempaka Putih District, which was attended by volunteers, staff and administrators, the Central Jakarta PMI emphasized that the commitment was a form of seriousness and shared responsibility in maintaining public security and order as well as the smooth implementation of the General Election which will take place on February 14.
"The PMI of Central Jakarta will provide humanitarian services as an anticipatory and prepared step in an effort to mitigate the risk of emergency matters during the election according to its duties as an organization of associations and humanitarian institutions that always plays an active role in various humanitarian services in the form of first aid, health services, ambulance transportation in every condition and situation," said PMI Chairman of Central Jakarta City Administration Soewardi Sulaiman quoting Antara.
Soewardi explained that around 56 PMI volunteers and health workers would be deployed to be on standby for elections at both PMI sub-districts and at PMI posts in Central Jakarta.
He added that apart from volunteers, PMI Central Jakarta City also prepared operational vehicles as an election preparedness service facility in the form of three ambulances, one hearse, and two operational cars. PMI Central Jakarta also alerted a 24-hour post.
While on duty, continued Soewardi, Central Jakarta City PMI officers are expected to synergize with any elements.

"We will strengthen coordination between security forces, local governments, the Health Sub-dept., and all elements of society to jointly maintain security and order during voting to vote count," Soewardi explained.
Meanwhile, Head of PMI Central Jakarta City Headquarters Gunadi Alfadjari said that his party had given directions and appeals to all teams on duty to always maintain order and adhere to the principles of the red chief in carrying out humanitarian service duties.
"All personnel involved must be equipped with personal security and must carry a letter of assignment, id (identification sign) and a fleet or vehicle such as an ambulance that is deployed must use the PMI logo," said Gunadi.
