Securing Electricity Supply During Elections, PLN Establishes 1853 Electricity Alert Posts Throughout Indonesia

JAKARTA - Ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) event, PT PLN (Persero) ensures that the national electricity system is in a safe condition. PLN also set an election alert period from 11-18 February 2024 by forming 1,853 standby posts and deploying 81,591 standby personnel in all regions in the country.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo projects that the electricity system will be in a safe condition on the D day of the General Election on February 14, 2024 with a Peak Burden of 36,643 megawatts (MW) and Power capable of Supply of 57,543 MW.

"PLN will focus on securing electricity supply for the smooth running of the 2024 General Election. We want to make sure all people can choose calmly at their respective polling stations," said Darmawan, Wednesday, February 7.

In order to be alert for the 2024 General Election, PLN has recorded strategic locations for the General Election and its supply. Furthermore, PLN conducts inspections and maintenance to ensure its installation is in normal condition to maintain the reliability of supply.

"During the standby period, PLN will not carry out a planned blackout, except for emergency. PLN has also made supply security procedures and coordinated with security forces," he added.

To maintain reliability in supply, PLN will alert 130 Workers in Voluntary Conditions (PDKB) with a total of 1,040 personnel. Support equipment will also be alerted, namely 1,731 generator units, 1,091 Mobile Substation Units (UGB), 116 Mobile Cable Units (UKB), 735 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, 395 Crane units.

As an operational supporter, PLN has also prepared 3,756 cars and 3,318 motorbikes. Especially for electric vehicles, 624 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) are also on standby throughout Indonesia.

"All of our equipment will be fully alert to ensure the acceleration of electricity recovery in the event of a disturbance. In the event of a disturbance, network maneuvers will be carried out so that those affected can be isolated so that further repairs can be made," concluded Darmawan.

Meanwhile MIND ID owns 20 percent of Vale Indonesia's shares that have been controlled since 2020. So with further divestment of 14 percent, Indonesia even owns 54 percent of Vale Indonesia's shares. In detail, 34 percent of the shares owned by MIND ID and 20 percent of the shares on the IDX.
