Long Awaited, BMW Officially Introduces Series-5 Latest Touring

JAKARTA - After a long wait, BMW revealed the manifestation of the Series-5 Touring positioned as a high-end vehicle. This car offers a modern sporty design and functionality.

Not only present in the combustion engine (ICE) version, i Seri-5 Touring also has a version of electric vehicle (EV), namely i5 Touring, offers sophistication that accommodates environmentally friendly and stylish daily mobility.

Reporting from the company's official website, Wednesday, February 7, this wagon-style car has a more dynamic design than its predecessor with a length of 5,060 mm, a width of 1,900 mm, and a height of 1,515 mm, as well as a wheelbase of up to 2,995 mm, providing room for a spacious interior.

Just like the sedan version, Series-5 Touring is equipped with a distinctive Grill decorated with contour lighting from BMW Iconic Glow as optional and illumination with elements of vertical LED elements that function as indicators and DRL, respectively.

The side view features a flat window and back wing that reinforces the elegant box design. Then, the pattern on the back rim is precise, along with a flat rear window, showing a broad and dashing posture on this model.

Furthermore, the manufacturer provided the car with a lightweight rim measuring 18 inches and 19 inches for electric-driven and plug-in hybrid models as standard. BMW also provides 21 inches of rims as optional.

Meanwhile, the interior features a modern cockpit design decorated by BMW Curved Display that combines a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch diagonal control screen that forms a digital display.

Complementing the premium display, the company also presents elements of sporty with racing-style seats as standards, flat-bottomed steering wheels, and BMW Interaction Bars as optional.

The German manufacturer also prioritizes the element of sustainability in this vehicle with an interior filled with material from vegans.

Other optional equipment includes BMW Individual Merino leather seat in several two-color variants. Other highlights of the optional equipment program include the roof of the panoramic glass and the sound system of Bowers & Wilkins as many as 18 high-quality speakers.

In terms of performance, the company presents a version of the 4-cylinder diesel engine that blends with the 48V mid-hybrid system as well as the transmission of eight Steptronic accelerations, resulting in up to 197 dk of power and 400 Nm of torque. The fresh 6-cylinder engine version will be launched in the summer of 2024 along with the disclosure of the plug-in hybrid variant.

Meanwhile, the electricity version offers a double electric motor embedded in the front and rear doubles, resulting in up to 601 dk of power and 820 Nm of torque for the i5 M60 xDrive Touring type.

Meanwhile, the Series-5 eDrive40 Touring variant is equipped with a single electric motor located at the back, so that it is capable of producing 340 dk of power and 430 Nm of torque.

With a battery with a capacity of 81.2 kWh, the manufacturer claims that this car is capable of offering a range of 445 km to 506 km on the i5 M60 xDrive type and 483 km to 560 km on the i5 eDrive Touring variant.

This elegant-looking car will be produced in BMW Group's Digolfing plant. The manufacturer revealed the model will be sold in Europe and Japan in May, followed by other markets in June.
