BBPOM In Pekanbaru Finds Illegal Import Cosmetic Storage Warehouse

PEKANBARU - The Joint Team of the Center for Drug and Food (BBPOM) in Pekanbaru conducted an action operation related to the findings of imported cosmetics allegedly illegal various brands at a shophouse on Jalan Srikandi in Delima Village, Bina Widya District, Pekanbaru City.

"The shophouse building is a warehouse for storing imported cosmetics that is suspected to be illegal since December 2023," said Head of BBPOM Pekanbaru Alex Sander in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 6.

Alex Sander said the joint team that carried out the prosecution operation were from the Riau Police, Satpol PP and the Pekanbaru City Health Office.

Thousands of illegal imported cosmetics, he said, said that they were transported to BBPOM in Pekanbaru using a unit of a cold diesel truck and illegal cosmetics wrapped in hundreds of boxes filled with a cold diesel truck.

"For further legal action, we will carry out further investigations and prosecutions are carried out because the seller, namely the resident of Pekanbaru City, is suspected of selling cosmetics containing hazardous ingredients and does not have a distribution permit," said Alex Sander.

Chairman of the Enforcement Team Muhammad Rusydi Ridha said that after being secured, BBPOM in Pekanbaru together with related parties will conduct a case title and determine further legal remedies.

"There are two suspected storage and sales locations, apart from Jalan Srikandi in the form of a storage warehouse and 500 meters from this warehouse. The perpetrators focus on selling online, there are lipstick, moisturizer, powder and other types of cosmetics from various brands that all speak foreign languages," he said.

All products are foreign and have no translation in Indonesian and without notification, without a distribution permit. He said that the owner of the illegal product had been summoned for questioning.
