Ganjar Regarding Election Ethics Violations: Repentance, Awareness, Returning To The Right Track

BALIKPAPAN - Presidential Candidate number three, Ganjar Pranowo, reminded that various decisions of ethical violations in the 2024 General Election should be a stern warning in the democratic process.

Ganjar wants everything back on track to ensure this five-year contestation does not lead to fraud.

This was conveyed by Ganjar in response to the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) which decided that the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari and six other members violated the code of ethics. The decision is the aftermath of the acceptance of registration for President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka as vice presidential candidate.

"This is a very strong warning in the democratic process. Immediately let's repent, let's be aware, we are back on the right track," Ganjar told reporters in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Tuesday, February 6.

Ganjar said that the community had actually started to get hot with this condition.

"We are worried because civil society, religiousists, scientists have come out," he said.

"Even the campus said that our condition was not doing well," continued the former Governor of Central Java.

Thus, he hopes that improvements can be made immediately. Do not let the results of general elections that should be honest and fair or jurdil be considered the opposite.

"What is the concern of civil society, campuses, religiousists must be considered by the organizers. The government must pay attention so that we can return to the right track," said Ganjar.

"Because if we don't believe it will collapse and we are betting big on the democratic process in Indonesia. Stop things that can make elections unfair," continued the PDI-P politician (PDIP).

Previously reported, DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito said the KPU chairman was sanctioned in the form of the last stern warning. Apart from Hasyim, other KPU members, namely Yulianto Sudrajat, August Mellaz, Betty Epsilon Idroos, Parsadaan Harahap, Idham Holik, and M. Afifuddin were also given similar warning sanctions.

The commissioners were complained about accepting the registration of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate on October 25, 2023. The complainant considered this not in accordance with KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023 concerning the Candidacy for Presidential Election Participants and Vice President.
