Samsung Uses Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Finger Sidik Sensor On Galaxy S24 Ultra

JAKARTA SamsungGalaxy S24 Ultra is one of the smart devices that uses a fingerprint or fingerprint sensor on the screen. However, this sensor is nothing new.

Many smart devices already use an in-display-based security system even though the type used is an optical fingerprint sensor. Therefore, Samsung brings improvements to the Galaxy S24 Ultra using different sensors.

Samsung uses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor issued in 2021, namely Qualcomm QFS4008. This module uses 3D Sonic Gen 2, much better than Qualcomm QBT2608, the fingerprint module used on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Differences regarding these two security systems have never been discussed. However, the visible difference is the size of the component that is slightly smaller in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Most likely, this small size could reduce latency.

The use of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is actually quite interesting. This security system is different from the optical fingerprint sensor because it uses wave reflection. This sensor will transmit an electric signal that can map the pores in the fingerprint.

Ultrasonic sensors can scan fingerprints in various conditions, such as dirty, wet hands, or when the phone is used in very hot weather. With these various advantages, it is not surprising that ultrasonic sensors are much better than optical fingerprint sensors.

This sensor is still rarely used by smartphone developers because the company uses optical sensors more often. This shows that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is indeed expensive because its components also support it.
