Erick Thohir And Shin Tae-yong Remove Rumors Of Leaving The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir and Indonesia Senior National Team Coach, Shin Tae-yong, dismissed the rumors circulating that Shin Tae-yong would leave the Indonesian national team to train the national team of other countries. Erick Thohir claims that Shin Tae-yong's contract will be extended until 2027 on condition that the Indonesian national team can reach the last eight of the U-23 Asian Cup which will take place in Qatar starting April 15.

Before the contract expires, I have extended it until June. With the parameters extended until 2027, if there are two successes that we do together," said Erick Thohir.

Erick Thohir stated that Shin Tae-yong's contract had been extended to June, and if the Indonesian national team was able to reach the last eight of the U-23 Asian Cup, the contract would be extended to 2027.

Coach Shin Tae-yong himself also emphasized that he has no interest in coaching the national team of other countries and will remain loyal to the Indonesian national team. Even though he had received offers from several other countries, Shin Tae-yong stated that he was not interested and focused on continuing his duties with the Indonesian national team.

"Indeed, during my tenure as coach of the Indonesian national team, there were often offers. But maybe as before we saw it until 2023, meaning the end of the year, so there is already a contract too. So there is no thought of going to another country either. And indeed during this tournament there was an offer, but I absolutely have no interest, "said Coach Shin.

"And there are also issues that I can pay contract fines, but never think like that at all. And during my tenure as coach of the Indonesian national team, I will try my best, and at this time I often meet Pak Erick for discussion and discussing the development of Indonesian football and contract extensions until 2027," he added.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong had mentioned that he had received offers from several other federations of countries, but currently, he is fully committed to continuing to train the Indonesian national team.
