Thailand Masters 2024: Bagas/Fikri Seal Tickets To Semifinals After Fierce Fighting
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, managed to seal a ticket to the semifinals of Thailand Masters 2024.
Bagas/Fikri passed three fierce games against China's Taipei representatives, Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po Hsuan, at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, Friday, February 2, 2024, with a score of 15-21, 21-9, and 21-18.
Left 2-7 at the beginning of the first game, Bagas/Fikri's efforts to excel failed to materialize until they finally fell behind with a score of 7-11. After the break, Bagas/Fikri still had difficulty getting closer to their opponent. As a result, Lee/Yang's first set with a score of 21-15.
In the second set, Bagas/Fikri started better and won 10-7. The slick effort then continued until they managed to secure the second game with a far-reaching 21-9 advantage.
The position of the draw made the match have to continue until the rubber game. Entering the third game, Bagas/Fikri made their own mistakes several times which left them 1-4 behind.

Bagas/Fikri then chased until the position was 7-7. The distance was wide, but Bagas/Fikri could again equalize the score 10-10.
After the interval, Bagas/Fikri, who had fallen behind 12-18, could turn things around. They took nine points in a row to seal a 21-18 victory.
This victory made them advance to the semifinals of the Thailand Masters 2024 and will face the winner between He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu and Andreas Sondergaard/Jesper Toft.
