Mahfud MD Pernah Bahas Mudur Menko Polhukam Dengan Megawati Dan Koalisi Pendukung

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said Mahfud MD, who is the vice presidential candidate for Ganjar Pranowo, plans to resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).

This was conveyed by Hasto in response to Mahfud MD's statement some time ago which said he would resign in the right moment. Initially, he said the resignation had been discussed with Ganjar and PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), Perindo, and the Hanura Party.

"Regarding the resignation of Prof. Mahfud, it has actually been designed between Pak Ganjar Pranowo and Prof. Mahfud MD together with the supporting political parties, PDI-P, PPP, Perindo, and Hanura in a meeting with TPN some time ago," Hasto told reporters quoted on Wednesday, January 31.

At that time, all considered Mahfud's resignation plan to be a very good momentum because negative sentiment towards the campaigning minister was huge.

"In fact, there was a social media unfollowing movement from President Jokowi. We then observed that," said Hasto.

However, Mahfud MD cannot simply resign from his position. Hasto said that the former Constitutional Court (MK) would complete its work first, such as providing recommendations for agrarian conflict issues to financial crimes.

"This will be accelerated by Prof Mahfud to be resolved so that whoever will replace him remains in the same spirit to defend the people, to defend justice," he said.

"Don't even cultivate a new style of intimidation," continued Hasto.

As previously reported, Mahfud MD stated that he would resign from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs when speaking at the 'Tabrak Prof!' on Tuesday, January 23. He said this attitude was taken to prevent conflicts of interest.

"At the right time, we will definitely submit a good resignation," Mahfud said in a YouTube live broadcast Mahfud MD Official.

Mahfud emphasized that the matter of resignation had indeed been discussed with his presidential candidate pair, Ganjar Pranowo. Suggestions were also given by the former Governor of Central Java.

However, he could not immediately apply for himself to resign because he had to finish his job. So, Mahfud is still waiting for the right momentum.

"What Pak Ganjar said to the public this afternoon was my agreement with Pak Ganjar from the start," said Mahfud.

"So there is no conflict with Pak Ganjar," continued the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).
