2024 Presidential Election 1 Or 2 Rounds, KPU: The Key To Voters
JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Idham Holik said the presidential election one or two rounds of key are in voters. "Regarding whether this presidential election is one round or two rounds, the key is voters," said Idham quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday 31 January. He emphasized that the voters who will determine the course of the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, the KPU has fully designed the implementation of the presidential election in KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Stages and Schedule of General Elections in 2024. "If the KPU in the attachment of 1 KPU Regulation number 3 of 2022 It is a complete design," he explained. Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning the Election states that there are two option options in voting, namely winning with one round or with a second round. The regulation reads as follows: (1) The selected Candidate Pair is a Pair of Candidates who obtained more than 50% (fifty percent) of the number of votes in the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections with at least 20% (twenty percent) votes in each province spread over 1/2 (half) the number of provinces in Indonesia.(2) In the absence of the Canon Pair chosen as referred to in paragraph (1), 2 (two) Candidate Pairs who won the first and second will be re-elected by the people directly in the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections.(3) In terms of the most votes acquisition with the same number obtained by 3 (three) Canon Pairs or more, the determination of the first and second rank was made based on the spread of wider vote acquisition regions in stages. In the 2004 Presidential Election there were five candidate pairs and ended with two rounds considering the highest gain was only 33.57 percent, namely the SBY-Jusuf Kalla pair. Up to the end in the second round, the SBY-Jusuf Kalla pair won with a vote acquisition of 60.62 percent compared to the Megawati Soekarnoputri-Hasyim Muzadi pair with the acquisition of 39.38 percent. The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has determined three participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud number 3.
