Especially For China, Samsung Get Rid Of Gemini AI On The Galaxy S24 Series

JAKARTA Samsung has showcased a new series of Galaxy phones on Wednesday, January 17. At the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S24 series will adopt the Galaxy AI.

This time, Samsung's branding prioritizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. The company even partnered with Google to optimize AI on their devices using the Gemini Big Language Model (LLM).

Although all Gemini types are added to the S24 series device, users in China will not experience the software's capabilities. On purpose, Samsung gets rid of Gemin from the devices they sell in China.

This has been due to a conflict between Google and the Chinese government since 2010. After the local government hacked the technology company, Google began violating the rules set in China.

This non-compliance made China reluctant to welcome Google. Therefore, the only way for Samsung is to get rid of Google's AI components from their devices. However, the S24 series in China remains an AI device.

Alternatively, Samsung partnered with Baidu, a web service company from China, to develop the Galaxy AI in the S24 series. An AI model named Ernie which was developed directly by Baidu will replace Gemini.

Based on the CNBC report, Baidu will use the latest version of Ernie. With the model 4.0, Ernie is claimed to be the strongest AI model Baidu has ever developed. This device is also said to be as sophisticated as the OpenAI GPT-4.
