Indonesia Masters 2024: Rehan/Lisa Comeback Keep Mixed Double Hopes
JAKARTA - Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati kept their mixed doubles expectations after getting tickets to the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2024.
Rehan/Lisa qualified after stopping Malaysia's representative, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, through a rubber game with a score of 12-21, 21-13, and 21-14 at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, January 25, 2024.
This victory is also revenge for Rehan/Lisa. The reason is, in the previous two clashes with the sixth seed last year, Rehan/Lisa always lost two straight games.
"Alhamdulillah, I can win. Actually, the match was not easy, but cooked, really, I wanted to continue to lose. Especially playing here and against the Malaysian pair. Then the strategy was also successful, except in the first set," said Rehan after the match.
This result makes Indonesia still have hope in the mixed doubles number. Rehan/Lisa are the only mixed doubles left in this Super 500 BWF level event.
Previously, another mixed double, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas, had already gone home. They gave up from representatives of China, Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin, two straight games with identical scores 13-21 and 13-21.

"What we learned from this match, we must not lose momentum. During the interval, we must be able to maintain momentum. After the break, we missed a lot without rally games," Pitha said after the match.
This is the second defeat experienced by Rinov / Pitha against the fifth ranked pair in the world. In the only previous meeting in the last 16 of the 2023 China Masters, Rinov / Pitha were beaten with a score of 15-21 and 15-21.
Selein Rinov/Pitha, the women's singles Kusuma Wardani also failed to reach the quarter-finals. Putri is certain to return home after losing to Japan's singles, Natik Nidaira.
