KKB Serang Cartenz Peace Task Force For 30 Minutes, One Police Died

JAKARTA - One member of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Bripda Alfandi Steve Karamoy, was shot dead by an armed criminal group or KKB in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, Friday, January 19.

Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Damai Cartenz Ops, AKBP Bayu Suseno, said the shooting was carried out by the KKB led by Apen Kobogau, who is Deputy Pangkodap VIII.

"One member was shot and killed," said Bayu in a statement quoted on Saturday, January 20.

The shooting was carried out by the KKB from behind the telecommunications signal transmitter tower. It is estimated that the attack lasted for 30 minutes.

As a result of the attack, Bripda Alfandi Steve Karamoy was shot in the left jaw through the right jaw. Although he was given help but the life of the Polri member could not be saved.

"Personnel who were hit by gunshot wounds have been evacuated and first aid is carried out at the Sugapa Health Center, but the Piter doctor declared the person dead," he said.

In addition, Kaops Damai Cartenz Kombes Faizal Ramadhani emphasized that his party would hunt down the KKB led by Apen Kobogau. They will be prosecuted according to the applicable law.

"Currently, our troops are still pursuing and sweeping around the crime scene," concluded Faizal.
