The Attorney General's Office Names 6 Corruption Suspects For The Besitang-Langsa Railway Project Worth IDR 1.3 Trillion
JAKARTA - Investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General's Office have named six people as suspects in the alleged corruption case in the Besitang-Langsa Railway (KA) construction project, North Sumatra, worth IDR 1.3 trillion.
"Today we have named six witnesses as suspects," said Director of Investigation at Jampidsus Kuntadi in Jakarta, Friday.
The six suspects are the initials NSS, and AGP each Budget User Authority (KPA) as well as the former Head of the Medan Railway Engineering Center.
Then, ASS and HH suspects as Commitment Making Officers, RMY as Chair of the 2017 Construction Procurement Working Group (Pokja), and AG as Director of PT DGY who is also a planning consultant and work supervision consultant.
Kuntadi said this case occurred between 2017 and 2019. The Medan Railway Engineering Center has carried out the construction of the Besitang-Langsa railway line (KA) with a project value of IDR 1.3 trillion.
In implementing the project, the Budget User Authority deliberately breaks down work packages with the intention that the auction can be controlled, so that the winner of the job package auction can be arranged.
Technically, continued Kuntadi, the project was not feasible and did not meet the provisions because no feasibility studies were carried out at all.
"In addition, the project was without the Minister of Transportation to determine the track of the train," he said.

In implementing this project, said Kuntadi, the Head of the Railway Center has moved the route that should have been set by the Ministry of Transportation to the EXisting route.
As a result of severe damage in several locations so that the railway line cannot be used.
"So that the road that has been built at this time has suffered severe damage at several points and cannot be used properly," said Kuntadi.
Kuntadi said 49 witnesses had been examined. Meanwhile, the state's losses are still being calculated.
"We did a calculation that most likely saw the condition of the path, the loss was a total loss," said Kuntadi.
The six suspects violated Article 2 paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
To speed up the investigation process, investigators detained the suspects in three different detention centers, first at the Salemba Rutan, the Attorney General's Branch (AAS, RMY, and HH), the Salemba Rutan, the South Jakarta District Attorney's Branch (AG), and at the Salemba Detention Center (NSS and AGB).
