Gemini Crypto Exchange Enters French Market, Gets Green Light From Local Government
Gemini, one of the largest crypto exchanges in the world, has officially obtained permission from French authorities to provide digital asset services in the country. Gemini became one of the first crypto exchanges to be listed as a digital asset service provider (DASP) by Autorite des marches financials (AMF), France's financial market regulator.
In his official statement, Gemini said that French DASP registration was part of their expansion in the European market. Previously, Gemini had launched their headquarters in the European Union in Ireland in 2022. Currently, Gemini operates in more than a dozen EU member states and more than 70 countries around the world.
"We are excited to welcome French-based subscribers to the Gemini platform in the coming weeks as we continue to expand access to cryptocurrencies across Europe," saidten Lynch, Gemini Chief for Ireland and the EU.
Gemini offers various digital asset products and services, such as spot trading, derivatives, custodians, loans, and payments. Gemini also has high safety and compliance standards, and supports various crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin.

France Pushes Crypto Asset Regulations
France is one of the countries in Europe that actively encourages regulation of crypto assets. In April last year, EU legislators voted to implement Crypto Asset Market Regulation (MiCA), a standard legal framework for crypto assets across the EU.
MiCA aims to increase accountability, transparency, and consumer protection in the crypto asset market. MiCA also facilitates access to cross-border services, so EU consumers can take advantage of diverse and competitive markets.
According to an AMF survey released in November last year, France's public interest in crypto assets was quite high. The survey revealed that 9% of France's population owns crypto assets, while 7% own shares. The survey also shows that new investors are more interested in crypto assets than the stock market.
