Airwheel Suitcases Are Prohibited From Entering The Aircraft Cabinet, Garuda Indonesia Boss Opens Voice

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Sertiaputra revealed that the provisions for passenger goods that can be carried as cabin baggage refer to the specified flight safety rules.

This was conveyed by Irfan in response to the news that complaints from passengers who have battery-powered or smart luggage type suitcases, Airwheel is prohibited from being brought into the flight.

This provision, said Irfan, refers to the policies issued by The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and related regulations in the country.

Irfan said the standard baggage allowed to rise into the cabin (baggage cabin) including smart luggage is baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kilograms (kg) with the largest dimension of 56 x 36 x 23 cm ( 115 cm linear), and battery capacity of no more than 100hubs.

"The condition of the battery on the smart laggage that is allowed to be brought to the plane is those that have removable battery specifications," he said in an official statement, Thursday, January 18.

"If smart luggage has a weight or capacity exceeding the specified standard," continued Irfan, then it is not allowed to be taken up to the aircraft cabin.

"As for smart luggages that have a battery capacity exceeding 100men but less than 160men can be transported as recorded baggage (checked baggage) with the requirement of obtaining approval from the airline," he explained.

However, continued Irfan, for smart luggages that have a battery lithium capacity exceeding 160 liters, they are not allowed to be transported either as cabin baggage or recorded baggage.

"We will continue to review the procedural steps that can be maximized to ensure safety management in relation to the use of smart luggage passengers in line with applicable flight safety provisions, including the screening process in the pre-flight process," he said.

Irfan also said that educational efforts for passengers will continue to be optimized, including ensuring that the supervisory aspect for passengers can run optimally supported by airport service stakeholders.

"We carry out this provision as our continuous step in maintaining the core value of Garuda Indonesia's services, namely priority security, safety, and flight comfort for both passengers and flight crew," he said.

Irfan also asked passengers to report the use of smart luggage when carrying out pre-flight procedures to ensure that the provisions for flight safety rules can be maintained.

"In line with our commitment to prioritize the safety and comfort interests of passengers during flights," he said.
