Still Low, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Records New Electric Motor Conversion 181 Units

The Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources noted that until December 31, 2023, only 181 motorcycles had converted from fuel oil to electricity.

Acting Director General of EBTKE, Jisman P Hutajulu detailed, of the 181 applications, 145 of them have received government assistance with a total of Rp1.4 billion and 36 others are still in the process of roadworthy testing and applying for a Type Test Certificate (SUT) and a Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT) in 2024 to ensure that technical requirements and roadworthiness of motorized vehicles are met.

"8 units received assistance of Rp. 7 million and 137 units received assistance of Rp. 10 million," said Jisman at the 2023 Performance Achievement Press Conference in Jakarta, Thursday, January 18.

Jisman explained that his party had implemented various programs in order to improve the conversion ecosystem of electric motorcycles.

The program is to improve the regulation on the conversion of electric motors through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 13 of 2023 which regulates the increase in incentives from the previous Rp7 million to Rp10 million.

This regulation also regulates incentive recipients from what was originally intended for individuals to become community groups and non-governmental government institutions.

In addition, removing the provisions of the cubication to be unconstrained.

Not only preparing the rules, Jisman said, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is preparing conversion workshops and implementing training and workshops.

Until 2023, there were 28 conversion workshops certified by the Ministry of Transportation.

Of the 28 workshops, 13 of them have entered the digital platform with a conversion capacity of 38,124 units per year.

Jisman added that the Directorate General of EBTKE also carried out a conversion program for electric motorcycles for ministries/agencies and the government as many as 350 units.

"KESDM has held training and workshops in the regions of awa, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan and Sulawesi with a total of 617 participants from automotive vocational schools, MSME workshops, universities and work training centers," he concluded.
